Annual service of Solaronics equipment takes 60 to 90 minutes per unit and covers eight checkpoints. Without it, efficiency typically drops 4 to 8 percent per season. On a 40 kW unit heater running 2500 hours, that is 250 to 500 EUR of additional gas per year. Below: the exact step list, multi-year cadence, and the documentation you receive after each visit.
When the service is performed
Before the heating season. September or early October. Before the first start of the unit. This is standard industrial practice for gas equipment and a condition for the manufacturer's warranty to remain valid.
For equipment running more than 4000 hours per year (24/7 logistics, continuous production), we recommend two services per year: the main service in autumn and a shortened mid-season check. For equipment running under 1500 seasonal hours, one service per year is sufficient.
For certified gas appliances, the annual check is also a statutory obligation. The service report is presentable to the inspection authority.
Eight checkpoints
Every service covers the following points. Timing is referenced to one mid-power unit (30 to 60 kW) in an accessible position.
| Point | Description | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Gas leak protection | Tightness test of the gas installation up to the unit, pressure check for G20/G25/G31 | 10 min |
| 2. Burner | Disassembly, nozzle cleaning, ignition and flame stability check | 15 min |
| 3. Heat exchanger / radiant plaque | Visual inspection for cracks, corrosion, ceramic oxidation (radiant plaques) | 10 min |
| 4. Flue gases | Measurement of O₂, CO, NOₓ and flushing, comparison with model reference values | 15 min |
| 5. Fan (unit heaters, air curtains) | Rotor cleaning, bearing check, airflow measurement | 10 min |
| 6. Electrical system | Connection check, thermostat, modulating valve, safety controls | 10 min |
| 7. Air curtain: screen | On MRA models: filter cleaning, lateral air-distribution check | 5 min |
| 8. Control logic | Test of ignition, shutdown, safety-shutdown and alarm-sensor cycles | 5 min |
Total: 60 to 90 minutes per unit. Multiple units in the same hall are serviced sequentially, time saved is 10 to 15 percent per additional unit (single setup of measuring instruments and access to the gas station).
Differences across technologies
Maintenance content varies by technology. The approach is the same; the checkpoints adapt.
Radiant plaques (SRII, SolarHP)
Specific feature: the ceramic burner plate operates at 900 °C. Ceramic oxidation is the leading cause of efficiency drop. Visual inspection separates normal aging from critical cracking. Replacing a single ceramic element is modular and inexpensive when performed in time.
On SRII series we also check flame geometry through directional reflectors annually. Deviation greater than 5 degrees indicates the gas/air mixture needs adjustment.
Gas unit heaters (Minigaz, AC, AEC)
Specific feature: the air-side heat exchanger is the primary wear component. Corrosion on the flue-gas side is rare in the first 5 years and routine after 8. The annual service includes an endoscopic inspection of the inner surface of the exchanger.
On condensing models (AC series, MC eco3, MH eco3) we add a check of the condensate neutralizer and drain. For propane (G31), we also check the regulator's pressure switch, which wears faster than on natural gas.
Air curtains (MRA, MRA-H)
Specific feature: the air filter ahead of the fan clogs quickly in dusty environments (logistics, sawmill, milling). In such cases we recommend replacing the filter twice per year, not once. Filter cost is 30 to 60 EUR per unit. Less than 5 percent of the lost airflow it prevents.
What you receive after the service
A service report (PDF) within 24 hours of the visit. The report contains:
- Flue-gas measurements before and after adjustment (O₂, CO, NOₓ, temperature).
- Status of all eight checkpoints with description of findings.
- List of replaced components or components proposed for replacement.
- Date of the next recommended service.
- Confirmation of valid factory warranty.
The report is presentable to inspection and insurance. We retain a digital copy for five years and send it to you on request at no charge.
Cost and scheduling
Service of one unit: 120 to 180 EUR + VAT (price adjusted to technology and unit position). Flat-rate packages for larger halls (5+ units) reduce the per-unit price by 15 to 25 percent.
Booking lead time in autumn is 14 to 21 days. March to June we have open capacity; that is when an autumn slot can be reserved without a waiting list.
For an in-season breakdown, response time is 24 to 48 hours for customers with an active service contract. Without a contract we respond on the next available slot, on average 5 to 10 working days.
Next steps for component replacements are described in the separate article on spare parts. For in-season troubleshooting see the troubleshooting guide.
